The Japan Center for Michigan Universities (JCMU) offers two programs for visiting faculty to teach at JCMU on a short term basis: the Visiting Scholar Program and May Short Program.
Visiting Scholar Program and May Short Program proposals must be received by the JCMU office at MSU no later than June 1 of the academic year prior to the proposed JCMU experience (for example a proposal for fall or spring/winter of the 2011/2012 academic year is due by June 1, 2010).
Visiting scholars and May short program leaders must be distinguished in their fields with a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree or completed all the necessary requirements for a Ph.D. except for the dissertation (ABD status). Preference is given to scholars with a research interest and background in Japanese studies who are faculty of one of the 15 JCMU member universities. Faculty from all institutions are welcome to apply.
