When it comes to academics, I was able to build a broader network of people, gain more diverse perspectives and adapt to a brand new environment. I was able to push myself in all of these categories which will be very useful when I begin to pursue my career. Prior to leaving for the program, I prepared myself to be very independent and expected to be doing a lot of things on my own, I was beyond wrong.

While abroad, the friendships I created are like none other. I now have friends from all over the world and even now that I’m back in the United States we are able to keep in touch almost Bright green and blue lighting on the Opera House at nightevery day, through messaging and social media. Some of the most amazing people in my life are the ones I met during my study abroad program. Being in Australia was such a surreal experience.

The number of cities and places I was able to go to was amazing. I lived in Sydney during my time there and I was able to go down to the harbor almost every day and visit the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Bridge - two of the most Iconic structures in Sydney. I loved feeling the breeze off the harbor while enjoying the view of the entire city! Also, I was very lucky to experience the amazing art festival in Sydney called “Vivid,” it was some of the most beautiful artwork and lighting I’ve ever seen. Every night the city lit up and I hope to one day experience it again.

Since I wanted to get the most out of my experience, Koala sleeping in a treeI decided to travel south and visit Melbourne. Such a beautiful city, full of adventures and opportunities. After my trip to Melbourne, my new friends and I took a trip to the gold coast and instead of flying back to Sydney we took a few days to drive back down and camp overnight in a few different places within New South Wales. We were able to visit Byron Bay, Burleigh Heads, and many more.

My absolute favorite thing about Australia is the wildlife. The country has so many animals, birds, and reptiles that I would never be able to see in my hometown.

I could not be more grateful for this study abroad program in Sydney, Australia. Every moment was surreal and unlike anything else. I was able to walk away with such a positive experience and memories for a lifetime.
