The Center for Gender in Global Context (GenCen) in collaboration with Zoonotic Vector Borne Research and Training Center, Indian Institute of Public Health (IIPH), Shillong organized a 2-day workshop on advanced qualitative data analysis on July 24th and July 25th 2024 in Shillong, Meghalaya, India. The workshop included 30 participants from an interdisciplinary team of experts (medical doctors; master's and PhD scholars; government employees in the area of public health; faculty members from the region) from the northeast region of India. The idea for research workshops developed from conversations around the topic of enhancing research capacity towards localization efforts of USAID with Dr. Soma Chaudhuri (Co-Director of Global Research, GenCen), Dr. Sandra Albert (Director of IIPH Shillong) and Dr. Melari Nongrum (Dean, IIPH Shillong) during IIPH’s visit to Michigan State University in March of 2024. IIPH has signed an MOU with MSU this year. The workshop is the first of many collaborations GenCen hopes to engage with IIPH Shillong in the area of research and capacity building.
